One of the many questions new players have when it comes to paintball is the difference between Loader-Fed paintball and Mag-Fed paintball. The most straightforward answer is that Mag-Fed Paintball offers the ultimate Mil-Sim experience in the paintball community. Unlike traditional paintball, which stores paintballs in a loader and is gravity-fed, Mag-Fed paintballs are stored in a magazine and are under spring tension. Since the paintballs are under spring tension, you can angle and fire the paintball marker without having the issue of paintballs not loading correctly, like the gravity-fed alternate. Loaders normally hold 200 paintballs, whereas the magazines hold 20. However, each player will be issued seven magazines, so reloading your Mag-Fed paintball marker will be simple.
Loader-fed paintball markers generally do not look or function like Military ones. They usually have a larger compressed air tank secured to the marker via the hand grip. In contrast, the Tippmann TMC Elite Air-Thru Stock has a smaller compressed air tank inside the marker's stock, making it lighter in weight and easier to carry/maneuver.
Another big difference when playing Mag-Fed Paintball is that you will be issued a vest color depending on your team. Currently, we have a Black vest for one team and a Coyote Brown vest for the other team. This is a huge difference because instead of having high-visibility colors such as Blue and Green to distinguish teams from one another, you are now being issued non-high-visibility colors that will help you better conceal yourself and your team while on the playing field.
Overall, both Mag-Fed and Loader-Fed Paintball are great! It only comes down to preference. Do you prefer to play paintball in military-style gear and equipment setup with a paintball marker that looks, functions, and operates like the real deal? If so, Mag-Fed is the way to go; otherwise, Traditional Loader-Fed Paintball is the next option.
